Frequently asked questions
Who can rent the RVs?
Renters must be at least 25 years old and have a valid driver license with a clean drivng record. All drivers must be approved before operating the RV.
Can there be additional drivers?
Yes. Any person who may drive the RV must be listed on the reservation and be approved through insurance or provide an accepted third-party insurance binder before driving. Only approved drivers are permitted to operate the RV.
Do I need a special license to operate the RV?
No special license is required for any of our RVs, but all drivers must be at least 25 years old, have a valid driver license, and be approved by insurance before driving.
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is 2 nights for Class B and Class C RVs and 4 nights for Class A RVs.
Certain holidays, events, and promotions may require a longer minimum rental period.
Do you offer delivery and pick up?
Yes. Reservations of 5+ nights receive free delivery and pick up within 34 miles of 91311.
Reservations under 5 nights may pick up and return in Chatsworth, CA for free, or from Marina del Rey, CA for $60.
Deliveries farther than 34 miles from 91311 are calculated at $6 per mile and cover the round trip.
Delivery for reservations shorter than 5 nights is $190. (Covers round trip within 34 miles of 91311).
When will the RV be delivered and picked up?
A rental night is up to 24 hours. The time the RV is delivered (or picked up from us) is the same time it must be ready for return on the final day.
You may select your preferred delivery and pickup time frame when making your reservation. Deliveries are generally scheduled between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM and are subject to availability. If we need to adjust your time, we will contact you ahead of time.
What happens if I am late to pick up my RV?
If you are not present at the agreed delivery time and location, we allow a 30-minute grace period. After that, a waiting fee of $40 per hour applies, billed in 15-minute increments.
The driver will wait up to 1.5 hours. If you cannot be reached or are still unavailable, the driver will return to base and the delivery will be considered unsuccessful.
A second delivery attempt may be scheduled based on availability and will be billed at the standard delivery rate.
Airport delivery includes extended waiting time for flight delays up to 2 hours.
What happens if I am late returning my RV?
The RV must be returned, or ready for pickup, at the scheduled return time.
If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible. Extensions must be approved in advance and paid before the reservation is extended.
If you return late without prior approval, the following late fees apply:
The first hour is a grace period.
The second hour is $75.
The third hour is $200.
More than 3 hours late may be charged up to triple the nightly rate.
Every unauthorized extra night is charged at triple the nightly rate.
Please stay in communication with us, as our schedule is carefully planned around cleaning, deliveries, repairs, and the next guest.
Do you work with out-of-state and international clients?
Absolutely. Our RVs and our service are a great fit for out-of-state, international, and local guests who want an easy rental experience. Our RVs are stocked with essentials and we offer all kinds of add-ons for a comfortable RV trip. Please note, our credit card processor does charge a fee if you're paying with an international credit card.
What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel for a full refund up to 3 weeks before the trip start date. You may reschedule without losing your rental credit up to 2 weeks before the trip start date.
We do not offer refunds for unused dates, early returns, or pre-purchased hours.
We also offer a Chill Trip Protection Plan, which allows you to reschedule your trip up to 4 days before the trip start date without penalty.
This plan must be purchased within 24 hours of making the reservation. If you change your mind, it must be cancelled within 10 days of purchase.
Travel credit does not expire and can be used toward a future reservation.
What is the cancellation policy for Burning Man Festival?
Full refund: cancellations made on or before May 15.
$2,500 non-refundable fee: cancellations made from May 16 through August 1.
No refund: cancellations made after August 1.
Burning Man rentals have special terms because of the high demand, preparation work, and harsh environment.
Do you offer one-way trips?
Occasionally, yes. One-way trips are reviewed case by case and must be approved in writing before the reservation.
Unauthorized one-way returns or abandonment of the RV are not allowed. If an RV is abandoned or not returned to the agreed location, the renter is responsible for all recovery costs, including travel, driver time, fuel, mileage, towing, storage, lost rental time, and any related expenses.
What if I want to use the RV longer than my scheduled reservation?
Please contact us as soon as possible. Extensions must be approved in advance and paid before the reservation is extended.
If you only need a few extra hours after the trip has already started, the first extra hour is complimentary if approved. Additional approved time is $30 per hour, up to 8 hours.
A full 24-hour extension is charged at the standard nightly rate, if available.
Do you refuse service to anyone?
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any rental at our discretion, including if we believe the RV, renter, passengers, or our business may be at risk.
What happens if we get into an accident?
Contact Chill RV right away so we can assist you.
Please take detailed photos of all vehicles, property, license plates, damage, driver licenses, and insurance information involved. If required, contact the police and obtain a police report.
All accidents involving the RV must be reported to Chill RV within 24 hours.
Insurance and protection plans offered through Chill RV are excess coverage, which means your personal auto insurance is primary. In the event of a claim, you may need to file with your personal insurance first before any purchased protection plan can review the claim.
What happens if I accidentally damage or break something?
Please let us know as soon as possible. Accidents happen, and the sooner we know, the sooner we can order parts or schedule repairs.
Renters are responsible for damage, missing equipment, excessive cleaning, downtime, administrative costs, theft, vandalism, and repair costs unless covered by an applicable protection plan or insurance.
Damage found during Chill RV’s return inspection that was not listed on the original walk-through may be charged to the renter. The initial return walk-through is not the final inspection.
If you purchased Interior Damage Protection, it may cover eligible interior damage up to $500.
When is the RV inspected after return?
Chill RV has up to 7 days after the RV is returned to inspect it for damages and contact the renter.
If there are no damages, violations, unpaid fees, or other outstanding balances, the security deposit will be returned within 14 days.
What is required to receive my security deposit back?
The RV must be returned on time, in satisfactory condition, with no damage, no missing equipment, no trash or dirty dishes, full fuel, full propane, and empty gray and black water tanks.
The security deposit may be used toward amounts owed under the rental agreement, including damage, cleaning, fuel, propane, dumping, tickets, tolls, late fees, missing items, or other charges.
If the deposit does not cover the full amount owed, the renter is responsible for paying the remaining balance.
What happens if I get a ticket or toll?
The renter is responsible for all parking tickets, citations, tolls, and related fees during the rental period.
Please notify us if you receive a ticket. If a ticket is not disclosed and we receive it later, the ticket amount plus a $75 administrative fee may be charged.
Are your RVs pet friendly?
Pets are allowed in certain RVs with prior approval and payment of the pet fee.
The RV must be returned free of pet hair and pet odor. Additional cleaning fees may apply if the RV is returned with pet hair, pet odor, or pet-related mess.
Pets may not be washed in the indoor shower because it can damage the RV. Please use the outdoor shower only.
If a pet is brought into the RV without prior approval, a $150 penalty may apply in addition to the pet fee.
How do I pay for the RV rental?
We accept all major credit cards. You may also be able to finance your trip through Affirm and pay in installments.
What kind of gas mileage do your RVs get?
Our Class C RVs use diesel and are very fuel efficient for RVs that size. The manufacturer advertises approximately 16–20 MPG.
Our Class B Van RVs also diesel and get approximately 18-22 MPG.
Our Class A RVs are gas and get approximately 6-8 MPG.
The actual mileage depends on driving style, terrain, speed, weather, generator use, and trip conditions.
What do I need to do before returning the RV?
Before returning the RV, please:
Refill diesel or gas to the same level as received.
Refill liquid propane.
Dump the gray and black water tanks.
Remove all trash and personal belongings.
Wash dishes and leave the RV in satisfactory condition.
Return the RV on time.
We can take care of the RV service for you for the following fees:
Waste tank disposal: $45.
Liquid propane refill: $10 filling fee + $6 per gallon
Diesel/Gas refill: cost of fuel
Freshwater tank refill: $5
Additional cleaning fees may apply if the RV is returned excessively dirty inside or outside.
Do I need to check anything during the trip?
Yes. Renters are responsible for basic care during the trip, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and warning lights.
If the RV needs DEF, coolant, oil, or any other fluid, contact Chill RV before adding anything so we can provide instructions.
Renters are responsible for mechanical damage caused by negligence, improper operation, or failure to maintain the RV during the rental.
Can I tow anything behind the RV?
We do not allow towing.
Are RVs difficult to operate?
Most guests find our RVs very manageable after orientation, but RVs do require more caution than regular cars.
At departure, you will receive a familiarization tour and learn how to operate the RV, appliances, hookups, and major systems. We also provide instructional resources, and we are available to assist during your trip.
Please drive carefully, allow extra stopping distance, watch your height clearance, use mirrors, and use a spotter when backing up.
Do you permit smoking in the RV?
No. Smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited in all RVs, including tobacco, marijuana, vaping, and any other smoke or odor-producing substance.
Detection of smoke or smoke odor may result in a cleaning fee or fine up to $700.
How many miles are included with the reservation?
Reservations include 100 free miles per night. Additional miles are charged at $0.45 per mile or $.90 per mile for the Revel 2.
Unused miles are not refundable. Certain promotions or special events may have different mileage terms.
Do you charge a cleaning and preparation fee?
Yes. There is a one-time cleaning and preparation fee of $165.
This covers standard cleaning and preparation only. Additional fees may apply if the RV is returned excessively dirty, with trash, dirty dishes, pet hair, pet odor, smoke odor, or other unusual cleaning needs.
Can I take the RV into the snow?
Yes, our RVs can be used for snow trips when used safely and responsibly. Chains are available by request.
If the expected temperature will be below 40°F, you must have a campground reservation with electric hookups. This helps protect the RV systems and keeps you comfortable.
Please contact us before your snow trip so we can make sure you are properly prepared.
Is there anywhere the RVs are not allowed to go?
Yes. RVs may not be driven off-road, into Mexico, or to Burning Man / Black Rock Desert without written permission from Chill RV.
RVs may only be driven on public roads with enough width, height clearance, and safe conditions for the RV.
What happens if the RV breaks down?
Contact Chill RV immediately so we can assist you.
Please do not purchase parts, repairs, fluids, towing, or services for the RV without approval from Chill RV. Unauthorized purchases may not be reimbursed.
We strongly recommend purchasing Roadside Assistance or carrying your own roadside assistance plan.
If a breakdown occurs, we will do our best to help you get back on the road within a reasonable amount of time. Chill RV is not responsible for losses related to breakdowns, including lodging, missed reservations, trip interruption costs, or other related expenses. But we will do our absolute best to assist you quickly.
What happens if there is a tire blowout?
If there is a tire blowout, contact Chill RV immediately.
The renter is responsible for tire blowouts and related fees unless Roadside Assistance was purchased and applies.
Is windshield damage covered by insurance?
Our insurance covers windshield chip repair, but not cracks or replacements.

How do I purchase an eGift card?
You can purchase an eGift card at www.chillrv.com/gift-card.
When will the eGift card be received?
You can send the eGift card right away or schedule it to be delivered on a specific date.
How do I redeem my eGift card?
Locate the email containing your eGift card. If you cannot find it, check your spam folder or contact us.
Find your eGift card code.
Go to www.chillrv.com/reservations.
Create your reservation by selecting your travel dates and RV.
Where the price is shown, click “Add discount code.”
Enter the gift card code exactly as it appears.
Click “Apply discount.”
I purchased my eGift card during a holiday sale. Why does the eGift card amount look lower than the total value listed?
Don’t worry. Your unique gift card code is programmed for the correct total promotional value listed at the time of purchase.
If I do not use my full eGift card balance in one trip, will the remaining balance expire?
No. If there is a remaining balance, we will send you a new code for the unused funds. The remaining balance does not expire.
Can I use an eGift card to pay for extra miles, diesel refill, propane refill, tank dumping, or damage?
Yes. Gift cards may be used toward eligible Chill RV charges.
What if the eGift card does not cover the whole trip?
You may use another accepted form of payment for the remaining balance.
Does the eGift card expire?
No. Chill RV eGift cards do not expire.
Can I use multiple eGift cards on one reservation?
No. Only one gift card code may be used per reservation.
Can I trade my eGift card for cash?
No. eGift cards are not redeemable for cash.
Is my eGift card refundable?
No. eGift cards are final sale and non-refundable.
Can I use an eGift card when booking Chill RV through a third-party website?
No. Chill RV eGift cards may only be used when booking directly through www.chillrv.com.
Can I apply my eGift card balance toward an existing reservation?
No. eGift cards must be applied at the time a new reservation is created.
What if my eGift card gets lost?
Contact us and we will be happy to resend it.
How can I check my eGift card balance?
Please contact us and we can check the remaining balance for you.
Can I use an eGift card with other promotions?
If the eGift card was purchased during a promotion, it cannot be combined with an additional promotion.
If the eGift card was purchased without a promotion, the current active promotion may be applied when eligible. Please contact us for a custom quote or reservation request.
