Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can rent the RVs?

    • All individuals over the age of 25 with a valid driver license of at least two years.

  • Can there be additional drivers?

    •  We encourage you to list all adults over the age of 25 who will be present in the vehicle as additional drivers so that they will be covered by insurance. 

  • Do I need a special license to operate the RV?

    •  As long as you are 25 years or older you just need to have a valid driver license. The vehicles handle very easy.

  • What is the minimum rental period?

    • Minimal amount of time to rent is 3 nights. You would need to either pick up and return in Chatsworth, CA or if you live within 34 miles of 91311, you can purchase a delivery/pick up option for $100. If you live further away, please inquire regarding the delivery costs. If you rent for 6 nights or more, we will include complimentary delivery and return within 34 miles of 91311. Certain holidays, locations and promotions require a longer nightly minimum. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years have a 7 night minimum. 

  • Do you offer one way trips?

    • Occasionally we do. One way trips are evaluated on a case by case. Please submit a form if you would like us to create a proposal for you.

  • When will the RV be delivered and picked up?

    • A night of reservation is 24 hours. You can select what delivery & pick up time frames work best for you when making the reservation. We do deliveries between 8am - 8pm. Whatever time you select to have the RV delivered, will be the same time we will come to pick it up on the last day.  Delivery times are based on availability, we will contact you ahead of time if we need to change the delivery/pick up time.

  • Do you work with out of state and international clients?​

    • Absolutely! Our RVs and our service are perfect for anyone from out of state and out of the country (or anyone local who just likes an easy company to work with). ​Our insurance partners offer insurance and our RVs are fully equipped! We even offer airport pick ups and drop offs. 

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    • To better accommodate our clients during this unprecedented time, we have amended our policy to be more flexible for our renters. You can cancel for a full refund 3 weeks before the start date and reschedule without loosing any credit 2 weeks before the start date.

    • We also offer a Chill Trip Protection Plan which gives you the flexibility to reschedule your trip up to 4 days before the trip start date without any penalty. This plan needs to be purchased within 24 hours of making the reservation and must be cancelled within 10 days if you change your mind. Travel credit does not expire, so it can be used at anytime. There are no refunds for cancellations made outside of the cancellation period and we do not offer credit or refunds for unused nights if the RV is returned early.​ The policy is different for reservations during Burning Man Festival; please see below. 

  • What is the cancellation policy for Burning Man Festival?

    • Full Refund: If you cancel on or before May 15th.

    • $2,500 Non-Refundable Fee: for cancellations made from May 16th to August 1st.

    • No Refund: For any cancellations made after August 1st.

  • What if I want to use the vehicle longer than my reservation dates?

    • You must contact us as soon as possible to see if we can extend your rental period. If we have a reservation for that specific vehicle we won't be able to extend your trip and late fees will apply if the vehicle is returned late. However, if we are able to extend your reservation, we will gladly do so. If you want to extend the return time by a couple of hours, it's $20 per hour (up to 8 hours). If you want to extend the reservation by a full 24 hour period it's the standard cost of the night. The additional balance must be paid prior to RVs return.

  • What if you can't extend my reservation but I come back more than 1 hour after ​the scheduled return time anyhow?

    • As of yet we haven't had a problem with clients returning much later than the scheduled return time. Clients arriving more than 3 hours late may be charged a penalty of up to $500. Please stay in contact with us as we very carefully design our schedule.

  • Do you refuse service to anyone?

    • So far all of our customers have been AMAZING but we do reserve the right to refuse any rental at our discretion.

  • What happens if we get into an accident?

    • Notify us right away so that we may assist you. Take detailed photos of all of the vehicles/property involved and take photos of the other party's insurance information and driver license(s). Your insurance will cover the accident less the deductible. 

  • What happens if I accidentally damage or break something?​

    • Accidents happen, we understand that. ​If you break or damage something please let us know as soon as possible so that we may order the replacement part or schedule necessary appointments to have the RV fixed. If you purchased Interior Damage Protection, it will cover interior damages up to $500.

  • What happens if I get a ticket?

    • The renter is responsible for paying the tickets and any associated fees.

  • Can we bring our pets?

    • We love your furry friends and allow them in certain vehicles with an additional cleaning fee. The vehicle must be returned free of pet hair and pet odor. Please let us know if you would like to bring a pet upon booking. The additional pet fee is $100 and the deposit may increase to $1,500. 

  • How do I pay for the rental?

  •    o We accept all major credit cards. You can also finance your trip through Affirm, paying in 3, 6 or 12 month installments.

  • What kind of gas mileage will we get?

    • Our Models J, V and P use Diesel so they are very fuel efficient. The manufacturer advertises 16-20 mpg. 

  • What do I need to do prior to returning the RV?

    • Please fill up the tank with diesel to the same level at which you received it. Also, please refill the liquid propane and dump the gray and black water tanks. We can dump the tanks for you for $45. If you cannot refuel the RV we can do it for you for $10 fee plus the cost of the diesel and/or liquid propane. 

  • Can I tow my car or boat behind the RV?

    • Yes, our vehicles can tow up to 5,000 pounds! Please notify us about your intent to tow so that we may properly assist you. ​There is no towing allowed for the Hymer or Revel Van.

  • Are RVs difficult to operate?

    • Not at all! At departure you will receive a 30-60 minute familiarization tour and learn how to hook up and operate all the appliances. We want to make sure you feel completely comfortable operating the RV. If you have any questions or forget something while on your trip we are available 24/7 to assist you.  

  • Do you permit smoking in the RV?

    •  Smoking is strictly prohibited. If the vehicle is returned with a smoke odor (tobacco or marijuana) a $700 cleaning fee will be charged. Please don't smoke in our RVs. 

  • How many miles are included with the reservation?

    • 100 free miles per night. Extra miles cost $0.45 per mile. There are no refunds on unused miles. 

  • Do you charge a cleaning and preparation charge?

    • Yes, one time $115 fee.

  • Can I take the RV into the snow?

    • Yes. All of our units are ready for the snow and we include chains (by request). You will need reservations at campgrounds with electric hookups if the expected temperature will be below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. 

  • Is there anywhere the RVs aren't allowed to go?

    • Our RVs are not meant to be driven off-road, into Mexico and cannot be taken to the Black Rock Desert for Burning Man without written permission by Chill RV. ​

  • How do I purchase an eGift card?

  • When will the eGift card be received?

    • You can send the eGift card right away ​or choose to schedule it for a specific date. 

  • How do I redeem my eGift card?​

    • 1. Locate the email which contains your eGift card. (If you can't find it, check your spam folder or contact us and we'll be happy to help).

    • 2.  ​Locate the eGift card code. 

    • 3. Go to www.chillrv.com/reservations and create your reservation by selecting your travel dates and RV. 

    • 4. Where the price is shown, locate and click: add discount code .

    • 5. Enter the last 4 digits/numbers in the discount code exactly as it appears on your gift card code. 

    • 6. Click apply discount. 

  • I purchased my eGift card during the holiday sale, why does my eGift card amount say it's less than my total value ​listed?

    • Don't worry, your unique gift card code is correctly programmed into our system. The gift card code is for the stated Total Value of the eGift card received.

  • If I don't use up my whole eGift card balance in one trip, will my remaining balance expire? 

    • No, we will send you an email with a new code to access your remaining funds, which you can use at a later date. ​The remaining balance does not have an expiration date. 

  • Can I use the eGift card to pay towards my extra miles, diesel refill, liquid propane refill, water tank refill, or damage? 

    • Yes

  • What if the eGift card does not cover the whole trip?​

    • You can use any other accepted form of payment for the remainder of your reservation​.

  • Does the eGift card ​have an expiration date? When do I have to use it by?

    • The gift card never expires, you can use it anytime. ​

  • Can I use multiple eGift cards in one reservation?

    • No, you can only use one gift card code per reservation. ​

  • Can I trade my eGift card for cash?

    • eGift cards are not redeemable for cash.​

  • Is my eGift card refundable? 

    • Sorry, eGift cards are final sale and cannot be refunded. ​

  • Can I use the eGift card when renting Chill RVs through third party websites

    • The eGift card only works when booking directly through ​www.chillrv.com only. 

  • Can I apply my eGift card balance towards an existing reservation? 

    • EGift cards must be applied at the time of creating a new reservation only. 

  • What if my eGift card gets lost? ​

  • We'll happily email it to you again. Please contact us. 

  • How can I check my eGift card balance?

  • Can I use an eGift card with other promotions? ​

    • If the eGift card was purchased during a promotion​, then it cannot be combined with an additional promotion. If the eGift card was purchased without a promotion, then the current active promotion can be applied. Please contact us for a custom quote/reservation request.
