If you want to attend Burning Man, understanding how Burning Man ticket sales work is essential. Tickets are released in multiple sales throughout the year. This guide covers everything you need to know on how to buy Burning Man tickets, the key dates, and 2026 pricing.

How Much are Burning Man Tickets?
In 2026, Burning Man tickets cost between about $675 and $3,000 (plus taxes and fees).
Important things to know:
All tickets are exactly the same — there are no VIP benefits or special access.
Tickets are released in separate sales (often called “tiers”).
Each sale has a limited number of tickets at a specific price.
Once that batch sells out, it’s gone.
Higher-priced tickets help fund art, infrastructure, and nonprofit operations.
Burning Man also offers Ticket Aid for those who qualify.
How Much are Vehicle Passes?
2026 Vehicle Pass Price: $165 per vehicle
Required per vehicle, not per person.
Motorcycles, trailers, and vehicles being towed do not require a vehicle pass.
⚠️ If you detach your towed vehicle and need to leave/re-enter, that vehicle will require its own pass.
Don't Fall for Scams!
If you are buying a ticket or vehicle pass from a private party, proceed with extreme caution. Even if someone presents a physical ticket, that does not guarantee it’s valid. A seller can report a ticket as “lost” and have a replacement issued, which automatically voids the original ticket. This is a common scam that targets inexperienced burners. To protect yourself, only buy from someone you personally know and trust, or insist that the ticket be transferred through Burning Man’s official Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP) or Ticket Transfer. Anything outside of that carries real risk.
Burning Man 2026 General Public Ticket Sales
Burning Man releases tickets to the general public through 3 primary sales throughout the year, along with official resale opportunities through the Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP).
Sunrise Sale = safest early move
Main Sale = biggest inventory
STEP = patience game
OMG Sale = last chance
Sunrise Sale (Public Sale – Early Access) / Status: FINISHED
This is the first public ticket sale. While tickets are typically priced higher than in later sales, they provide guaranteed access without the uncertainty of the Main Sale rush.

Main Sale (Largest Public Sale) / Status: UPCOMING
This is the most competitive sale of the year and often sells out quickly.
You must register in advance during the official registration period.

2026 Key Dates:
April 20 at 12pm – April 28 at 12pm: Registration period
April 29, 2026 at 12pm PT: Main Sale begins
OMG Sale (“Oh My God” Sale) / Status: UNSCHEDULED
The OMG Sale is essentially the final public ticket sale before Burning Man.
It’s designed for people who:
Missed Sunrise
Missed Main Sale
Didn’t get tickets through a camp
Didn’t secure tickets through STEP
It’s your last structured chance to buy tickets directly from Burning Man before the event.
What You Should Know
It happens mid-to-late summer (typically late July or early August).
It requires registration in advance, just like Main Sale.
Tickets are usually priced at the higher tier (historically around $1,500+).
Inventory is limited.
2026 Key Dates:
Dates have not been released by the Burning Man organization yet.
STEP (Secure Ticket Exchange Program) / Status: Upcoming
Official Burning Man resale platform
STEP allows ticket holders to resell tickets at face value through Burning Man’s official system. Buyers join a queue and are matched as tickets become available.
2026 Key Dates:
· March 18, 2026 at 12pm: STEP opens
· August 22, 2026 at 12pm: STEP closes
How to sign up for STEP:
Step 1: Wait for STEP to Open
STEP does not run year-round. You cannot join before it opens.
Step 2: Go to the Official STEP Page
Look for:“Join STEP” or “Secure Ticket Exchange Program”
Step 3: Sign Up as a Buyer
You’ll:
Enter your name and email
Select what you’re looking for (ticket + vehicle pass, etc.)
Enter payment information
Important: You typically authorize your card in advance. You are agreeing to automatically purchase a ticket if one becomes available for you.
Step 4: Join the Queue
STEP works like a queue.
You are placed in line behind others who signed up before you.
You do not see your exact position.
There is no way to “skip ahead.”
Sales that are not open to the general public

Not open to the general public.
This sale is reserved for:
Theme camps
Art installations
Mutant vehicles
Infrastructure providers
If you are camping with a registered theme camp (including ours or another camp), you may qualify through your camp’s allocation.
Your camp lead must:
Submit your Burner Profile email
Submit the number of tickets needed
You’ll receive an email from Burning Man with instructions to purchase during the March 4–11 window.

2026 Key Dates:
February 20 at 12pm – February 27 at 12pm: Form submission period
March 4 at 12pm – March 11 at 12pm: Purchase period
💛 Ticket Aid ($250) & 🌱 Resilience Program ($550)
Reduced-price tickets for participants with financial need or communities facing hardship.
Ticket Aid provides lower-cost tickets to applicants who qualify. Applications are reviewed, and approval is required before you are eligible to purchase a reduced-price ticket.
2026 Key Date:
February 25, 2026 at 12pm PT: Application opens
Applications should be submitted as early as possible. Approval must be granted before you can move forward with purchasing a Ticket Aid or Resilience Program ticket.
Sometimes in the true spirit of Burning Man, some people will gift free tickets to others. Best place to find these would be in the Facebook groups. Many different Facebook groups always pop up for each Burning Man year. Check these two groups to start, but definitely check as many groups as you can.

Remember to be careful of scammers! Especially when dealing with Burning Man tickets aquired through Facebook. The safest way is to get a ticket transferred to you through the Ticket Transfer Tool or STEP program.

All other international orders must be held for Will Call
Orders will begin shipping early June 2026.
Where is the Will Call Office?
You will wait in the same line as everyone else trying to get into Burning Man. Once you make it to the very front, a Burning Man staff/volunteer will ask you if you already have physical tickets or need to pick up from the Will Call Office. At that point they will direct you into a separate line and show you where you will park the RV and walk up to the office. Prepare to wait in another line by foot. Be sure to have a valid government-issued photo ID that matches the name on your order with you. After you pick up your tickets you will drive forward and rejoin the ticket checking line.
There is also a full-service satellite Will Call located at the BRC Airport Box Office and a limited Will Call pick up for Burner Express Bus riders at their points of embarkation in San Francisco and Reno.
Facebook Tickets
There is a lot of activity that happens on Facebook around Burning Man tickets, so if you have a Facebook, definitely join some groups. It's perfectly reasonable to find someone on Facebook that is looking to sell their ticket or to make a post that you are looking to purchsae a ticket. But here is the truth:
Facebook is one of the biggest places people get scammed for Burning Man tickets.
There are legitimate people in Facebook groups trying to resell, but there are also a lot of scammers. And the problem is this:
A seller can show you a real ticket.
They can show you a confirmation email.
They can even FaceTime you with it.
Then they report it “lost.”
Burning Man reissues a new ticket.
The original ticket becomes invalid.
You don’t find out until you’re at the Gate.
If you connect with someone who is looking to sell their ticket, only get the ticket through STEP (Secure Ticket Exchange Program). STEP eliminates the “lost ticket” scam entirely because tickets are transferred through the official system.

Anyone who truly want's to go to Burning Man can find a Burning Man ticket, even after all the sales have closed. There is a really beautiful phrase in the Burner community, "the Playa always provides".
